While I am an editor for a national trade publication, my job doesn't define me. I'm a curious explorer first and foremost, and perhaps that's what makes journalism a suitable career choice. Growing up, my grandfather would read National Geographic to me. Reading it didn't suffice, though; I had to get out there an experience the world for myself.

  • Craziest place

    The Pelourinho district of Salvador on a Tuesday night. There are lots of people, lots of music and lots of dancing—and lot's of pickpockets ready to snatch anything that's on your person.

  • Advice

    Seek out new experiences whereever you go, but don't be so inflexible that you don't let experiences seek you out.

  • Dream destination

    It's not about the destination; but rather the journey. I'd like to spend a year traveling across the globe. High on my list of places to visit are Mongolia, Bhutan, southern India, Jordan, Turkey, Italy, Tunisia, etc.

    I have 43 countries under my belt, mostly from Latin America, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean.

    I am heading to Ghana, Togo and Benin in West Africa.
