I was born and raised in a tiny town in Washington State where I spent most of my time reading books in an effort to understand more about myself and the world around me. I left "home" when I was seventeen and have been on adventure since. I don't expect to stop any time soon. There are so many wonderful people in the world to meet and learn from. I still read voraciously and began writing when I was in high school, first for the school paper and then onto bigger venues. I am an excellent editor but have more fun writing, even though it's not as lucrative. My first book should be on bookstore shelves soon!

  • Hometown

    Seattle, Washington, USA

  • Location now

    Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico

  • Travel philosophy

    Respect the locals.

  • Craziest place

Christiania, Copenhagen, Denmark. There is nothing you can't do in Christiania, except drive a car.

  • Bizarre experience

Driving through customs at the Mexico/USA border.

  • Advice

Pack light but wear really good shoes. Plan ahead. Know what you want to see but be willing to have adventures. Meet locals. If anyone invites you to their house for dinner, go; it will probably be the best meal of your trip.

  • Dream destination

Since I was a small child I’ve wanted to visit Turkey and Egypt and the part of the world we once knew as Mesopotamia. The history has always fascinated me. I hope Iraq can calm down again before I get too old to go there.

  • Traveled before

I've been to over half the states in the USA, including Alaska and Hawaii; thirteen of the thirty-six States of Mexico; three provinces of Canada. European countries I have visited are Denmark, Czech Republic, Germany and England.

  • Going next

I’ll be covering Puerto Vallarta and surrounding area for Viva and when I'm sure I have picked it clean to the bone, I plan to head somewhere I've not been before; perhaps another place in Mexico or elsewhere in Latin America.
