My husband and I tented our way across the U.S. and made numerous and extended trips to Mexico (same tent) during our 20s and 30s. At forty we decided to stay put for a bit and lived in the boonies of central Minnesota (no running water and no indoor plumbing but a great sauna). After fifteen years of tenting with a roof, we moved to Mexico and a rented house with three full bathrooms. We continue to travel.

  • Travel philosophy

Get your butt in gear and just go.

  • Craziest place

They all seem perfectly sane to me. It's other people that think them crazy.

  • Bizarre experience

Sitting in a hundred year-old log cabin in Latgale, speaking Spanish to my host who spoke only Latvian. We had a great conversation.

  • Advice

Learn as many languages as you can. Try to stay spend more time in one place rather than being on the move.

  • Dream destination

    Whever I go next.

  • Traveled before

All over Mexico, Brasil, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Germany, Latvia, and Italy. Ah, Italy.
