I'm a passionate writer and traveler who hopes to one day get paid for doing either or both. I don't need a big budget to have fun - some of the best times I've had abroad involve ramen noodles and vaguely seedy hostels. I'm a little impulsive and a lot easygoing. My must-have travel essentials are industrial strength hair ties, any book by bill bryson, and my journal.

Location now
Nutley, NJ, USA
Work published
This is my first time (of hopefully many to come!) writing about travel for anyone but myself
Travel philosophy
Just jump, everything else will work itself out
Craziest place
A Maasai village in Kenya at the height of the African summer
Bizarre experience
In Florence, a man once cornered me and told me in English that he wanted to eat my eyeballs. I think he meant something between "your eyes are pretty" and "I could eat you up," but something went horribly, horribly wrong in translation
Advice
To not spend so much time planning - the best times I've had are those when I've booked the least and had the freedom to make or change plans on a whim
Dream destination
I'm on a ruins kick - I want to travel to Mexico to see Chichen Itza, Peru to see Machu Picchu, and Egypt to see the pyramids
Traveled before
I've done a 3 week cross-country road trip, spent 6 months living abroad in Florence, Italy where I visited Rome, Venice, Paris, London, and Switzerland, explored the beaches in the Bahamas, safaried in Kenya and Tanzania, had my appendix removed in Spain, and most recently spent a few months backpacking Australia
Going next
Hopefully the UK in the fall to stay with friends in London
