Hanoi, Vietnam. I have never seen so many motorbikes in one place, following no obvious traffic rules. Crossing the road was an adventure. You had to step out into the road regardless of the oncoming sea of motorbikes and they would dodge you. One rule: don't stop! If you stopped in the middle of the road like a frightened rabbit you would, for sure, be run over.
Watching Indonesian men in a remote coastal community in eastern Lombok paint their toenails with pink nail polish, brought to them by the tour guide. This was followed up with a dance, including a strange mix of 1970s disco and the very traditional music of the locals.
