An addicted traveller. I havent yet reached the age of forty and have hit all main continents bar Africa. Travel writing allows me to relive my experiences and share them with others. Currently taking a break from education which I have done for the last twelve years and seeking something more stimulating.

  • Hometown

    Rochford, Essex, UK

  • Location now

    Acton, London, UK

  • Work published

    www.igougo.com and numerous fanzines.

  • Travel philosophy

Get off the beaten track. I have one of those brains which looks at a map and sees a street with a church far away from the tourist crowds and half the fun is making my way there. Also, get involved. Go out and enjoy local clubs or restaurants. If you can immerse yourself in a country

  • Craziest place

I'm not sure crazy is the right adjective but the most chaotic place I have been too is India.

Without doubt some of the most friendly people but getting from A to B can be hard work. The roads can be like racetracks where the credo is "might is right" and the pavements are blocked by goats, beggars and people selling their wares as well as the constant harassing taxi drivers.

But India is rather special. The treasures they have there are like nowhere on earth.

  • Bizarre experience

In India I was caught by the monsoon. I was travelling from Delhi to Rishikesh in the Himalayas and the run off from the Himalayas flowed across the flat Gangetic plains.

Villages flooded, roads were washed away and at one point I was in the car and the water came up through the floor. We had to be pulled through a high street which became a river by a tractor. With the villages standing at the side laughing at us and taking great enjoyment at the spectacle. And making a tidy profit for providing the tractor as well.

  • Advice

Don't take risks. Only take your camera and how much money you need for the day.

If you take a wallet out with you then remove it of all vital cards etc before you leave so if it is stolen then not everything is lost. Also, if you are unsure of anywhere take a taxi.

And if people want to talk to you - talk back. They are not all after your cash.

  • Dream destination

I think it must be Africa - particularly northern Tanzania with its game parks and mountains. This could be combined with Zanzibar and Pemba for an exotic beach stay.

I have a fascination with Russia and one day want to go to Moscow and St Petersburg. Beijing is the big city I really want to visit.

  • Traveled before

Europe - Paris, Vienna, Prague, Spain, Greece, Italy, Hungary and Istanbul.

Asia - Thailand, India and Shanghai. Australia was my destination in 2005

Brazil is my favourite country and have been there twice. And when I was in my early twenties I backpacked around the United States for three months.

  • Going next

I lost my job at Xmas so travel plans have to be put on hold.

When I do get myself working I would like to do Australia or Argentina or maybe a strange combination of Jordan and France.
