The following is a sample letter, feel free to modify it to your own preference. Also remember that you are welcome to write your own letter!
Dear Friends, Family and Colleagues:
I would like to tell you a bit about a book coming out that features my (WRITING OR PHOTOGRAPHY): V!VA List Latin America: 333 Places and Experiences That People Love. What sets this book apart from other travel compilations is that it was a completely web-based community effort. Via the V!VA Web site me, and the other contributors, submitted our stories and photos. From these contributions the V!VA team complied the best pieces, and thus the book was created.
The contributors of the book vary greatly. They include an adventurous grandmother, a high school teacher, and a deejay, besides professional writers who are featured in publications such as The Wall Street Journal and Rough Guides. Day jobs and writing credentials aside, all of the contributors share one thing: a profound passion for travel.
Through the book they share with you this passion, by telling their first-hand accounts of things that can’t be found in glossy travel brochures. You’ll shop in the fish markets of coastal Chile, hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and live with a Cuban family. You’ll dance tango in Argentina and sleep in the same room where Simón Bolívar once did nearly two hundred years ago. You will swim with sea lions, visit an underground salt mine carved into a cathedral and watch a game at Brazil’s most famous soccer stadium.
Our hope for the book is to share with the world our love for Latin America, and hopefully inspire others to share in the adventure and create their own special memories of Latin America.
